The Play

This one act comedy by Bill Tordoff was written specifically for young people to perform. The action opens in the forest of Sherbert where we meet an assorted band of merry men and their woman folk. What follows is a new slant on an old tale!

Reviews

SO MUCH TALENT IN SMALLEST TOWN

IT must be something in the water! What else can explain the seemingly endless talent in the Manningtree area. The recent Manningtree Festival highlighted the range of skills among residents of the town and surrounding villages and An Evening of One Act Comedy Plays at the Manifest Theatre emphasised the point.
Senior Manifest members presented Mother’s Day by J B Priestley while Manifest Acting and Singing Kids (Masts) staged Robby Nudd by Bill Tordoff at the Oxford Road theatre over three evenings.

The latter, a take off of Robin Hood and set in Sherbert Forest, revealed merry men as you have never seen them before. There was no lack of confidence among the youthful cast and there were some excellent performances. Daniel Tuck as the Sheriff of Nottingham, strutted and swaggered and cheekily involved the audience, while Laura Jepp, one of the smallest, had possibly the biggest voice, her delightful singing filling the auditorium. But is was James Mason, who really caught the eye and imagination as the flamboyant Will Scarlett.

Mother’s Day, directed by Mike Johansen, was a quieter play and will have struck a chord with all put-upon mums, who feel their families do not appreciate all they do for them.
